Avon Breast Cancer Safety Net Program

The Avon Foundation for Women "Safety-Net" program supports public, community and safety-net hospitals and health care systems across the nation that provide breast care to low-income, at-risk, uninsured and underinsured individuals. Safety-Net grantees work to improve access to quality breast diagnostics, access to treatment for the medically underserved.

CAI has had a long partnership with the Avon Foundation for Women. In 2006, the Avon Foundation asked CAI to design and manage their data reporting system for the Avon Safety-Net grantees. CAI summaries the grantees' reports and provides ongoing reports to the Avon Foundation. Also, the Avon Foundation and CAI have been promoting networking and collaboration among Avon Breast Health Outreach Program (BHOP) grantees and the Safety-Net grantees by geographic area in order to build program capacity and to ensure that more women are receiving mammography screenings. Safety-Net grantees to attend CAI's monthly BHOP webinars that are designed to offer grantees actionable research and breast cancer information to support program development.
