AIDS Education & Training Center

Since 1988, CAI has been a Local Performance Site (LPS) for the Ryan White CARE Act's AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) under the New York/New Jersey AETC program coordinated by the HIV Center at Columbia University. The National AETC Program supports 14 regional centers that conduct clinical HIV education and training programs for health care providers.

The purpose of the AETC program is to improve the care of people living with HIV/AIDS by supporting state-of-the-art clinical consultation, education, and training for clinicians serving this population. Specifically, the program targets providers serving minority populations, the homeless, rural communities, incarcerated persons, and Ryan White CARE Act-funded sites, as well as primary health care clinicians such as physicians, physician assistants, advance practice clinicians, nurses, dentists, and pharmacists. As a local LPS for the NY/NJ AETC, CAI is capable of designing training programs tailored to an individual institution or organization's needs and to the needs of the geographic region it serves.
