UNFPA Colombia and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia

During 2013, CAI in joint venture with CISSC (Centro de Investigaciones en Sociedad, Salud y Cultura) implemented a project for the election of regional councils and the national youth council for the prevention of teen pregnancy, including the ethnic component and strengthening of its new members through contents of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Sexual and Reproductive Rights and social organization under the framework of 036/12 agreement signed between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia and UNFPA. To this end, a tab characterization of groups, organizations and networks was developed, which were distributed in all departments of Colombia, so that different groups of community-based youth in the country could register their youth to participate in the 5 regional meetings, which were held in the cities of Barranquilla, Bogota, Bucaramanga and Cali. 130 adolescents and young people aged 14 to 24 attended from different areas of the country, and contributed to the construction of regional action plans for the prevention of teen pregnancy including social determinants and ethnic components. Regional council members and the national youth council for the prevention of teen pregnancy for the period 2014-2016, were also selected.
