Public Health Intern

CAI is seeking a highly-motivated individual for a part-time (unpaid) internship position of Public Health Intern for a Tobacco Cessation Initiative. The Public Health Intern is responsible for providing assistance and support to the Project Director for Health Systems Improvement. CAI, is a provider of training and technical assistance to health departments, community based organizations and healthcare organizations at a national-level for over 35 years, with a mission to use the transformative power of research and education to foster a more aware, healthy, compassionate and equitable world.
This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills acquired in school and apply them within a non-profit setting.

MAJOR LEARNING ACTIVITIES TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assistance in drafting a Case Study related to successful implementation of Tobacco Dependence Treatment
  • Analyzation and display of qualitative and quantitative data related to a Tobacco Cessation Initiative
  • Assisting the Project Director for Health Systems Improvement with Administrative tasks
  • Performing other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS:

  • An interest in Quality Improvement/Health Systems Improvement work
  • B.A. or B.S. in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology, Social Work, or related disciplines
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Keen attention to detail

This internship offers an absolutely flexible work schedule, and would entail approximately 10-12 hours per week. The position is unpaid; however, CAI will facilitate credit working with the requirements of your academic institution, and the Project Director for Health Systems Improvement would provide future employment referrals based on performance.

Graphic Design Intern

CAI is seeking a highly motivated individual for the part-time (unpaid) internship position of Graphic Design Intern for its office in New York City. As part of CAI's Communications Department, this is an opportunity to gain practical experience in designing work across a variety of media for regional, national, and international projects while working with a committed team of diverse professionals to offer customized capacity building services that build the skills and systems of our clients and improve lives in the vulnerable communities we serve.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with CAI's Senior Designer and Communications Director to design collateral materials for CAI's 30+ regional, national, and international projects
  • Support CAI's visual identity through print and digital materials, including but not limited to advertisements, invitations, newsletters, brochures, annual reports, and publications consistent with brand guidelines and specifications
  • Assist with the logistics and production of all print and digital materials
  • Assist the organization, implementation, demonstration, and monitoring of accurate trademark and logo usage
  • Work with clients to review comps, proofs and post-production files for all collateral materials

PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Be skilled in graphic design for both print and digital and have expertise in using design software, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Know how to work with HTML, and basic web programming scripts
  • Have excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills and the ability to write, copy edit and proofread materials
  • Understand the importance of implementing brand standards and possess a great attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills
  • Have the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet expedited deadlines
  • Be a highly motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic team player
  • Excellent typography and layout skills

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS:

  • Currently pursuing a degree (Bachelors or Masters level) in Graphic Design or equivalent from an accredited institution

Curriculum Development Intern

CAI is a global public health non-profit organization focused on ensuring quality health care and social services for vulnerable populations. CAI is looking for one or two curriculum interns to assist the Curriculum/Distance Learning department in a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to the development and writing of training curricula, handbooks, manuals, toolkits, and text for distance learning projects. Communications Intern

CAI is seeking a highly motivated individual for a part-time internship position of Communications and Marketing Intern for its office in New York City. As part of CAI's Communications Department, this is an opportunity to gain practical experience in brand development for national and international projects, production of external communications materials, and planning marketing and public relations strategies while working with a committed team of diverse professionals to offer customized capacity building services that build the skills and systems of our clients and improve lives in the vulnerable communities we serve.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft and edit content for CAI's regional, national and international websites, newsroom, and social media platforms
  • Assist in the implementation of the social media communications plan
  • Organize and develop collateral materials such as best practice guides, brand standards, and projects promotional or outreach items
  • Assist in the brand and strategy development for all CAI projects
  • Research, analyze, and support the implementation of evidence-informed best practices in digital marketing, communications, and public relations for nonprofit organizations
  • Support CAI's public relations efforts and marketing and communications plans with KPIs for key initiatives and multi-year project specific campaigns
  • Utilize different marketing and design software (e.g. Joomla, Get Response, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Vocus) (training would be provided)

PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong research skills

  • Social media experience (preferred)
  • Basic HTML and web design knowledge (preferred)

CAI is seeking a highly motivated individual for the part-time (unpaid) internship position of Research Intern. The Research Intern is responsible for providing assistance and support to the Director of Research and Evaluation.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative program data.
  • Drafting evaluation instruments.
  • Drafting scientific manuscripts for publication.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
