Trainer/Technical Assistance Specialist - Trauma Informed Care Initiatives

CAI, a training, technical assistance (TA) and research-to-practice nonprofit organization is seeking 3 or more highly motivated professionals for full-time, exempt positions of Trainer/TA Specialists – based in CAI’s NYC office - to work on one or more of CAI’s Trauma Informed Care Initiatives: The NJ Overdose Data to Action Project, NJ HIV Trauma Informed Care Project and NY Trauma Informed Care Initiative. These individuals will be responsible for providing TA and trainings to integrate Trauma Informed Care (TIC) into the culture, environment and service delivery of agencies in engaged in CAI’s Trauma Informed Care initiatives. These agencies, and their community-based partners, are Ryan White service providers, hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Substance Use Treatment Programs and Emergency Medical Services  providing one or more of the following services: HIV prevention, care and treatment, outpatient primary care, substance use prevention, office-based addiction treatment, and harm reduction services.

 

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

  • Deliver TA to support the integration of trauma informed care into agencies’ culture, environment, and service delivery, including: policy and protocol development, patient flow, human resources, team building
  • Deliver CAI training courses to a defined level of quality utilizing adult learning principles
  • Stay abreast of current literature and research related to HIV, trauma, trauma informed care, substance use disorders, and overdose prevention
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies and best practices to inform TA activities, training curricula, training materials and other resources
  • Maintain accurate and current records of all technical and training activities
  • Represent CAI at professional meetings
  • Provide TA sessions (remotely and onsite) on an ongoing basis to agencies providing TIC services
  • Regular travel to sites in New York and New Jersey
  • Other duties as necessary/assigned

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:

This is an advanced level position that requires a master’s degree with expertise in HIV, mental health, nursing and/or public health, and experience providing training to adults in a public health arena. Summary of requirements is provided below.

  • Master’s degree in related field (Public Health, MPH; Mental Health LMH, LRC, LSW, MSW; or Nursing; RN, MSN)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing TA to build capacity of health service agencies
  • Experience with or knowledgeable about coaching of staff to achieve performance improvement
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in delivering adult training programs
  • Experience training multidisciplinary staff who work in primary health care settings
  • Ability to interpret and use real-time data to support process improvement
  • Strong training and presentation skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility in approach to training techniques and TA delivery
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple assignments and projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
