CAI Data Impact Hub
CAI’s Research and Evaluation (R&E) Department, which includes a dedicated team of 14 analysts, is home to the CAI Data Impact Hub – a cross-functional team serving as a centralized engine that transforms data into action through interactive data products, dynamic visualizations, implementation science frameworks, and continuous quality improvement.
The initiative
The CAI Data Impact Hub enables teams to rapidly iterate, demonstrate impact, and scale effective solutions, serving as CAI’s “north star” for data-driven learning.
Our data visualization products are developed in appealing, compelling, and user-friendly ways – drawing on best practices in data visualization to allow for accessible data interpretation by diverse entities and stakeholders. These products are often paired with intensive technical assistance provision, to translate complex data into actionable insights and next steps for program improvement.
Examples of data dashboards, interactive maps, and visualizations from select projects are provided below (note: Viewers may need to enable full-screen mode):
- Improving Health Equity and Maternal and Infant Health Outcomes through Community-Based Activities (MIH) project’s dashboard to visualize client data by agency
- Community Approaches to Reducing STIs’ dashboard for community advisory board engagement and evaluation monitoring
- Project BAT (Black people Against Tobacco)’s map showing tobacco retailers in Jackson, MS
- Technical Assistance Provider Innovation Network’s map for Atlanta, GA (click on the layer list and toggle data layers to visualize Atlanta’s HIV/AIDs system of care, HIV data, and demographics)
The impact
CAI works with organizations to optimize their use of data and evidence-based research to effectively make decisions, engage in continuous quality improvement activities, improve health outcomes, and enhance sustainability – building the capacity of key stakeholders to make data-driven decisions that lead to improvements in implementation and achievement of desired outcomes.
