NEW YORK, NY (October 17, 2024)—CAI’s Research and Evaluation team is sharing findings from recent national and regional initiatives at the 2024 American Evaluation Association Conference (AEA) next week. The conference is bringing more than 2,000 new and established evaluators, researchers, and other professionals to Portland, Oregon, to learn about the latest advancements in evaluation theories, frameworks, methods, and tools.
CAI’s evaluation staff are delivering seven oral and poster presentations related to the AEA conference theme, Amplifying and Empowering Voices in Evaluation. Topics include:
- “Using Maps to Address Data Gaps” illustrates GIS concepts and describes how this tool can be used to assess the reach of health and service providers, identify areas that are high needs and are underserviced, and foster data review and analysis in new and innovative ways.
- “Using Engaging Data Visualization and Storytelling Techniques to Build the Community’s Capacity to Evaluate and Analyze Data” describes how CAI engaged stakeholders—including young adults—to design a sexually transmitted infection prevention intervention in Jackson, Mississippi.
- “Building Consensus and Shared Measurement to Assess Outcomes for the Healthy Food Denver Kids Initiative” invites participants to learn about CAI’s work to evaluate and demonstrate outcomes of an initiative to increase access to healthy food and food-based education for youth and families in Denver and contribute to planning next steps.
“CAI has been engaged by the CDC and other leaders to improve public health initiatives through data science and evaluation,” said Lindsay Senter, CAI’s Vice President of Research and Evaluation. “We’re excited to once again participate in the American Evaluation Association Conference to both share the results of our work and learn from our colleagues from around the country.”
