Development Coordinator

General statement of responsibilities

The Development Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of Development to support activities associated with the development and execution of organizational strategy to advance CAI’s mission and vision.  Specifically, the Coordinator provides support in identification of funding opportunities, development and submission of proposals, and tracking proposal development, submission, and outcomes in organization-wide database. This position is based in our NYC office.

Major tasks and responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)

  • Conduct prospect research and identification of funding opportunities aligned with CAI’s mission and program areas.
  • Develop and/or facilitate collection of proposal documents including org charts, staffing plans, job descriptions, etc.
  • Work with staff to update resumes, bios and bio-sketches
  • Support development of descriptions of program areas, staff and partners for inclusion in grant proposals
  • Schedule in-person and virtual meetings of proposal teams; ensure teams have all relevant notes and application documents in advance of meetings
  • Organize Development Department files and documents; including tracking progress and status of all potential and submitted proposals and bids in QuickBase and other systems; maintain related files such as a database of current and potential funders, submitted and pending applications, contracted programs, and past funding relationships.
  • Maintain an electronic system for tracking project and financial reporting timelines and sending prompts and reminders to Project Directors.
  • Support project teams in the electronic submission of progress reports and continuation applications
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum education, experience, and other required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with proposal writing, proofreading and copy editing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Zoom (or other virtual meeting software), and Quickbase (or other project management software)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as functioning as a supportive staff member
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks for a variety of contemporaneous projects
  • Familiarity with and interest in public health issues and topics at the national and state levels, i.e. HIV/AIDS, substance use, reproductive health, mental health, community health, population-based and public health strategies.

While performing the Development Coordinator’s responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. This position requires the employee to be on-site at a CAI office. The employee is often required to sit and work at a desk for prolonged periods of time and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $60,000- $65,000. CAI offers a generous benefits package including:
