CAI’s CBA TA provides tailored technical assistance and resources to help the HIV prevention workforce strengthen their organizational capacities and build individual staff competencies and technical expertise to reduce new HIV infections.
Approximately 1.2 million people are living with HIV in the U.S., and that number increases by about 35,000 every year. To meet the federal Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) in the U.S. goal of reducing new HIV infections in the U.S. by 90 percent by 2030, it is essential that community-based organizations, health departments, and healthcare organizations receive support to strengthen their organizational capacity to carry out comprehensive HIV programs to diagnose, treat, and prevent HIV and syndemic conditions.
The initiative
CBA TA helps the HIV prevention workforce by providing high-quality tailored technical assistance and resources that will help effectively plan, integrate, implement, evaluate and sustain HIV prevention programs supported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) nationally.
CBA TA’s work will include:
- Tailored assistance by conducting needs assessments and Individualized action plans through authentic partnerships
- Skills-building workshops to address staff needs and capacity
- Coaching sessions to apply essential competencies and skills in the workplace
- Development and dissemination of tailored tools, technical bulletins, and webinars
- Communities of practice to exchange resources and knowledge among peers
The impact
This is a five-year project that started in 2024 and is actively partnering with organizations nationally to increase their knowledge and skills to implement, maintain, and scale-up CDC-supported, evidence-based interventions and public health strategies. CBA TA helps improve organizations’ understanding of processes and strategies that need to be in place to reduce new HIV infections and meet the federal government’s Ending the HIV Epidemic goals.
