CAI Receives Sixth Professional Development Accreditation, Its First in Psychology

New York, NY (July 18, 2022)—The American Psychological Association (APA) has recognized the quality and relevancy of CAI’s evidence-based behavioral health training programs by enabling CAI to provide continuing professional development credits to postdoctoral level psychologists who attend select CAI trainings.

With the APA sponsor approval, CAI will develop additional trainings that target psychologists and provide opportunities for them to learn new techniques, theories, and interventions to implement within their practices. It will also build on one of CAI’s strengths: bringing interdisciplinary teams together to learn.

“Awarding professional development programs to psychologists will allow us to further strengthen the team-based, interdisciplinary training approach that is fundamental to our work,” said Melanie Steilen, Director of Nursing Education and a Senior Clinical Trainer at CAI. “We’re always looking for ways to break down professional silos, and it’s exciting to be designing trainings that we can deliver to a room of nurses, psychologists, doctors, and social workers, each of whom will contribute a unique perspective to the learning environment.”

This APA is the sixth entity to grant CAI the ability to offer continuing professional development for their programs. Other organizations that have approved CAI as a sponsor or provider include the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, the New Jersey State Nursing Association, and the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
