HIV Trainer / Curriculum Development Specialist

CAI (Cicatelli Associates Inc.) is seeking a highly motivated professional for the FULL-TIME position of HIV Trainer/Curriculum Development Specialist. The HIV Trainer/Curriculum Development Specialist has responsibility for the development and writing of training curricula, handbooks, manuals, toolkits, and text for distance learning to support organizational and workforce capacity building activities (CBA). This person will have the responsibility for the creation and maintenance of standards for training design that are in line with adult learning theory, cognitive learning principles, industry best practices, and CAI standards of excellence across the three training disciplines: in-person, webinar, and online.  In addition, the candidate should possess excellent writing and editing skills, have the ability to establish cooperative working relationships with persons assigned to various projects, and be able to analyze and research content materials. A knowledge of Public Health issues would be an asset. The person selected for this position will also perform training duties such as facilitating various HIV training programs and other training responsibilities as per assigned. This position is located in CAI’s NYC office.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work cooperatively with project staff and training teams to develop training curricula, handbooks, manuals, toolkits, and text for distance learning programs

  • Outline CAI best practices for training design, including in-person, webinar, and online programs, and supporting materials

  • Facilitate the design, development, and implementation of interactive online learning initiatives using adult learning principles, online learning design and principles, cognitive learning theories and CAI best practices

  • Research content areas to ensure the most up-to-date information and relevant theoretical models

  • Assist with production of instructional videos

  • Research and implement e-learning and instructional design best practices and current trends

  • Facilitate HIV training programs

  • Perform all training related duties 

  • Uphold and demonstrate core CAI corporate values

  • Work cooperatively with other CAI staff on other projects as needed

  • Other duties as necessary/assigned

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS and OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Masters degree in education, instructional design, or health related field and/or 5 years of experience in curriculum development, educational communication and technology, adult learning, instructional design, or similar program focusing on adult learning and technology
  • Experience in the design and development of blended learning solutions with a solid understanding of e-learning and technology based training delivery.
  • Experience creating and implementing organization-wide processes
  • Knowledge of adult and cognitive learning theories
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Strong Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Familiarity with Public Health issues (e.g., reproductive health, HIV/STIs, etc.)
  • Project management and coordination
  • Experience with Microsoft Presenter, Captivate, Articulate, and other e-learning software
  • Knowledge of training and professional development methodologies
  • Fluency (spoken and written) in Spanish
  • Knowledge of training and professional development methodologies

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexities and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work productively in highly collaborative settings while also able to function independently
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff, clients, and consultants
